I help couples and families going through divorce and separation with a focus on children and related financial issues. My goal is to help you reach a settlement amicably and I am told that my clients like my calm approach to this often sensitive and difficult situation.
As a lawyer and a family mediator, I offer two forms of support.
My many years’ experience as a family lawyer, including acting in court proceedings, means that you benefit from my extensive knowledge of family law and best practice. Adopting a pragmatic approach helps you to achieve a fair result, and I always balance any benefits to be gained against the cost of achieving them. I also help clients think ahead to what they want to happen if their relationship breaks down in the future through the preparation of pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements, and living together agreements.
As a trained family mediator, I help separating couples to find their own solution that works for them. This passion for helping you resolve issues constructively and fairly will allow you to move on with your lives in a non-confrontational way, which is particularly important when there is a family and children to consider.
Expertise
With over ten years’ experience in family law and now as a trained family mediator, I am truly passionate about supporting separating couples and protecting the interests of any children. To support this, I take an active role in the family law community. Through being a long-standing member of the National Resolution Children Committee, I am part of a group that actively lobbies and advises on law reform and procedural rules to protect children. This delivers systemic change to the often confrontational manner of family law.
I joined Debenhams Ottaway in 2014 after training at a London law firm, and secured promotion to Senior Associate in 2022. I live with my family in St Albans and enjoy being an active member of my local community. I regularly volunteer at the University of Hertfordshire Law Clinic, helping local people who can’t afford legal advice. I am also a member of the Lawyers’ Christian Fellowship and a trustee of the Christians in Overseas Service Trust (COST), which provides grants to individuals undertaking Christian voluntary work overseas.
