Debenhams Ottaway welcomes senior associate Sarah Liddiard to its corporate and commercial team. With almost 20 years’ experience in commercial law, Sarah joins the team alongside newly qualified lawyer Millie Reynolds who trained at the firm. Sarah’s recruitment means that Debenhams Ottaway provides more comprehensive support to its business clients.

Sarah, who joins from regional firm Machins, has nearly 20 years’ experience in commercial law.  She specialises in helping clients, from small owner-managed businesses to UK branches of large multinationals, ensure that they have robust commercial contracts which facilitate growth and limit legal risks.

Head of corporate and commercial Andrew Yates comments “Debenhams Ottaway has a clear vision and ambitious growth plans and having the right people is key to achieving our goals. Sarah’s appointment reflects our continued commitment to building a team of talented lawyers to help our business clients achieve their ambitions and protect their interests. We are excited that Sarah is joining the team where she will play a pivotal role.”

Sarah Liddiard comments “I am delighted to join Debenhams Ottaway, a dynamic, respected and in-demand team that has a proven track record for going above and beyond for its clients. The team has a refreshing approach to working in partnership with clients based locally in Hertfordshire and further field in the UK and internationally. I am excited to contribute to the firms’ continued success.”

Corporate and commercial partners Andrew Yates and James Brawn are supported by an impressive team of lawyers who have a broad range of experience with a growing reputation for delivering high quality, complex work for clients. The team recruited experienced ex-City associate, Rebecca Lorne, a couple of years ago and further expanded at junior level by hiring a newly qualified lawyer Tara Tatti last year and Millie Reynolds this month, who both successfully completed Debenhams Ottaway’s rigorous trainee solicitor programme.

The team is praised by one client in leading legal directory, The Legal 500 UK, for “its agility and flexibility to provide support for any request we have made, in some cases new territory for us, and the expert advice has been essential. Above all the service from all members of the team has been excellent and more importantly consistent.”

One client, CEO and founder of software company Turtl, commented the team is made up of “exceptional, knowledgeable people who are genuinely great to work with. Our needs were totally understood and we got clear, concise advice which allowed us to get to the right outcomes.”
