Bernadette Hillman, head of planning at Debenhams Ottaway, will again be talking at the RTPI’s annual East of England Planning Law Update held at Downing College, Cambridge on 6 November 2015.
Bernadette has regularly presented at the conference and this year will be delivering the ‘Review of the Year’. Given the changes to planning law and national policy brought in by the Coalition, Bernadette will review those alterations and subsequent decisions by the courts before looking at what the new administration may have in store. In particular she will be taking a detailed look at the Housing and Planning Bill which was published in October and looks set to introduce some radical changes to the planning system as a whole.
Bernadette is well known in the Hertfordshire and London planning and property market. Her recent successes include the planning and enforcement appeals in relation to the use of the former Airfield at Runways Farm Bovingdon for motor sports, emergency vehicle driver training and drifting; obtaining a planning permission for a Major Distribution Centre in Houghton Regis; advising on the judicial review of the Thames Garden Bridge and defending numerous counts of offences under the Planning and Listed Buildings Act for works and the demolition of a listed farmhouse.
