For the second year running, Debenhams Ottaway is sponsoring the University of Hertfordshire Galleries Eastern Approaches exhibition at the Museum of St Albans.
This annual open submission exhibition has marked itself out over the past decade as the definitive annual showcase for regional artistic talent. Eastern Approaches is delivered in partnership with St Albans Museums and Galleries Trust and other local sponsors.
The exhibition attracts over 200 submissions from artists working across the eastern region and an independent judging panel select the best artworks for a rich and lively exhibition. The overall winner of Eastern Approaches is awarded a solo exhibition with UH Galleries, offering a fantastic opportunity to present new work and reach new audiences.
Along with the other sponsors, Debenhams Ottaway will support the exhibition by selecting an artist at an awards panel on 3 December 2014 and all chosen artists will be awarded at an opening reception and awards presentation on 6 December. All the chosen artwork is then displayed at the Museum of St Albans on Hatfield Road until 11 January 2015.
UH Galleries, at Hatfield and St Albans, are amongst the most innovative contemporary art spaces in the UK. Working with emerging and established professional artists across all media, UH Galleries organise a rolling programme of exhibitions and collaborate with other major cultural institutions across Europe. UH Galleries’ exhibitions, which give artists space to experiment and develop new ideas, have been critically acclaimed in the national, international and specialist press.
